Xperia 1 has a general score of 82.6, which is just a bit better than the Google Nexus 5's 76 score. The Xperia 1 design is extremely newer and just a little thinner, but noticeably heavier than the Google Nexus 5. The Xperia 1 features a bit superior processor than Google Nexus 5, because although it has doesn't have an additional graphics co-processor, it also counts with a larger amount of RAM memory and 4 more processing cores.

Xperia 1 has just a bit better looking screen than Google Nexus 5, because it has a better pixels density, a larger screen and a much higher 1644 x 3840 pixels resolution. The Xperia 1 shoots much better photographs and videos than Google Nexus 5, because it has a lot better 3840x2160 video resolution, a way bigger diafragm aperture to capture better photography in low-light situations, a larger back-facing camera sensor providing a better image quality and a camera in the back with way more mega-pixels.

The Sony Xperia 1 features a much better storage for applications, games, photos and videos than Google Nexus 5, because it has 128 GB internal memory and a SD memory slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB. The Sony Xperia 1 features a superior battery performance than Google Nexus 5, because it has a 3330mAh battery size against 2300mAh.

Although Sony Xperia 1 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Google Nexus 5, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Google Nexus 5. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy the Sony Xperia 1, else you can save some dollars and get the Google Nexus 5, giving up a couple specifications.
