Comparison review
The Xperia 5 is slightly better than the Asus ROG Phone 8, with an 81 score against 79.5. Xperia 5 is an older device than the Asus ROG Phone 8, but Sony was able to build it much lighter and a little bit thinner anyway. The Sony Xperia 5 features a much greater hardware performance than Asus ROG Phone 8, although it has a lower amount of RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.
The Asus ROG Phone 8 features a better looking screen than Xperia 5, because although it has a bit lower resolution of 1080 x 2400px and a little worse pixel density, it also counts with a bit larger screen. Asus ROG Phone 8 shoots a lot better photos and videos than Xperia 5, because although it has a tinier camera aperture, it also counts with a much better resolution back-facing camera, a lot higher 7680x4320 video resolution and a much bigger sensor taking more light and vivid colors.
The Xperia 5 counts with a slightly bigger memory to install games and applications than Asus ROG Phone 8, because although it has less internal memory, it also counts with a SD extension slot that supports a maximum of 512 GB. The Asus ROG Phone 8 counts with a way better battery performance than Sony Xperia 5, because it has a 75% bigger battery capacity.
