The Xperia 5 is slightly better than the Huawei Mate 20, getting a global score of 81 against 79.5. The Xperia 5 is a newer cellphone, and it is also just a little bit thinner and somewhat lighter than Huawei Mate 20. The Huawei Mate 20 features a bit better looking display than Sony Xperia 5, because although it has a quite lower 1080 x 2244px resolution and a just a bit worse screen pixels density, it also counts with a little bit bigger screen.
Sony Xperia 5 features a superior storage capacity to install applications and games than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have exactly the same internal storage, the Sony Xperia 5 also has a SD extension slot that holds up to 512 GB. The Xperia 5 features just a little better performance than Huawei Mate 20, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Xperia 5 also has a larger amount of RAM memory.
The Huawei Mate 20 has better battery life than Xperia 5, because it has a 27% larger battery capacity. The Huawei Mate 20 features a slightly better camera than Xperia 5, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not recommended for low light photos, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution, the same 30 frames per second video frame rate and a 12 mega pixels resolution back-facing camera, the Huawei Mate 20 also counts with a bigger back camera sensor capturing more light and vivid colors.
Although Sony Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs a lot more than Huawei Mate 20, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Huawei Mate 20. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy Sony Xperia 5, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Huawei Mate 20, letting go a couple specifications.
