The Xperia 5 has an overall score of 81, which is slightly better than Motorola Edge 40's overall score of 77.2. The Xperia 5 is a noticeably older and a little thicker cellphone than the Motorola Edge 40, but Sony managed to make it just a little bit lighter anyway. The Xperia 5 counts with a much better performing processing unit than Motorola Edge 40, although it has a smaller amount of RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.
Motorola Edge 40 features a slightly better looking display than Xperia 5, because although it has a little lower display density and a bit worse 1080 x 2400 resolution, it also counts with a bit bigger display. Sony Xperia 5 features a lot bigger storage capacity for games and applications than Motorola Edge 40, and although they both have exactly the same internal storage capacity, the Sony Xperia 5 also has a slot for external memory cards that supports a maximum of 512 GB.
The Motorola Edge 40 has a much better battery performance than Sony Xperia 5, because it has a 4400mAh battery size instead of 3140mAh. The Motorola Edge 40 takes greater photos and videos than Xperia 5, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 video quality and the same 30 fps video frame rate, the Motorola Edge 40 also has a much higher 50 mega pixels resolution back facing camera, a lot bigger back camera sensor taking lot higher quality pictures and videos and a larger aperture to take better low-light captures.
