Sony Xperia 5 has a general score of 81, which is slightly better than the Motorola Moto Z3 Play's 76.3 general score. Sony Xperia 5's body is newer than the Motorola Moto Z3 Play's, but it is thicker and a little bit heavier. Xperia 5 has a bit more powerful CPU than Motorola Moto Z3 Play, and although they both have a Octa-Core processor, the Xperia 5 also has more RAM memory.

The Sony Xperia 5 features a bit sharper screen than Moto Z3 Play, because it has a little bit larger display, a slightly better resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels and a little bit better number of pixels in each inch of display. Moto Z3 Play has a little bit more memory capacity to install games and applications than Xperia 5, because although it has 0 less internal storage capacity, it also counts with a SD memory slot that supports up to 1,95 TB.

The Xperia 5 counts with a slightly better camera than Moto Z3 Play, because although it has a tinier back camera sensor which gives a worse image and video quality, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, the same video frame rate and a back-facing camera with a 12 MP, the Xperia 5 also counts with a bigger aperture for better captures in low light environments.

The Xperia 5 counts with a bit superior battery lifetime than Moto Z3 Play, because it has a 5% larger battery size.

Although Sony Xperia 5 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Moto Z3 Play, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as Moto Z3 Play. So if you want that extra specs, you can buy the Sony Xperia 5, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Moto Z3 Play, giving up a couple specs and features.
