Galaxy M40 has a score of 85, which is a little bit better than Xperia 5's global score of 81. Even though Galaxy M40 and the Xperia 5 were released only 4 months apart, Galaxy M40's construction is a little bit heavier but also just a little bit thinner than the Xperia 5. Sony Xperia 5 features a little faster processing unit than Galaxy M40. Both have a 6 GB RAM and 8 cpu cores.
Sony Xperia 5 counts with a little bit better screen than Galaxy M40, because although it has a little smaller screen, it also counts with a quite better pixels density and a bit higher resolution of 1080 x 2520px. The Samsung Galaxy M40 counts with as much storage for games and applications as the Sony Xperia 5 one, they have the same 128 GB internal memory and an external SD slot that allows a maximum of 512 GB.
The Galaxy M40 shoots much better photos and videos than Xperia 5, because although it has a smaller back camera sensor giving a worse image quality and a smaller aperture which is not favorable for taking photographs and/or video in low-light environments, and they both have the same video frame rate and the same video quality, the Galaxy M40 also counts with a lot more megapixels camera.
Galaxy M40 has just a bit better battery performance than Xperia 5, because it has 3500mAh of battery capacity instead of 3140mAh.
