The Sony Xperia Z is a little bit better than the Xperia Ion, getting a 67.3 score against 61.3. The Sony Xperia Z construction is newer and noticeably thinner than Xperia Ion's, although it's also just a little heavier. These phones use Android OS (operating system), but the Sony Xperia Z has 4.4.4 version and Xperia Ion has Android 4.1.2, giving some extra features.

Sony Xperia Z features a bit superior CPU than Xperia Ion, because it has an additional graphics processing unit, 2 more 1.5 GHz processing cores and a greater amount of RAM. The Xperia Z has a little sharper screen than Sony Xperia Ion, because it has a bit bigger screen, a higher number of pixels per inch of screen and a lot better 1920 x 1080px resolution.

The Xperia Z captures just a bit better photographs and videos than Xperia Ion, and although they both have the same video definition and the same video frame rate, the Xperia Z also has a more megapixels camera. Xperia Z's storage capacity for games and applications is just as good as Sony Xperia Ion's one, they have a slot for SD memory cards that holds a maximum of 32 GB and the same 16 GB internal memory capacity.
