The Galaxy A8 Star has an overall score of 82.1, which is better than Sony Xperia L4's 71.8 global score. The Galaxy A8 Star is an older and just a little heavier phone than Sony Xperia L4, but Samsung was able to build it somewhat thinner anyway. Both phones in this comparison have the same Android 9.0 Pie OS, so both should count with all the same operating system features.
