Sony Xperia XZ3 is a bit better than the Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, getting a score of 79.6 against 73.7. Both of these phones use Android OS, but the Sony Xperia XZ3 has a more recent 9.0 Pie version while Sony Xperia XA1 Plus has Android 8.0 Oreo. The Sony Xperia XZ3 body is newer than Sony Xperia XA1 Plus's, although it's thicker and a little bit heavier.

Sony Xperia XZ3 counts with a bit superior CPU than Sony Xperia XA1 Plus, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Sony Xperia XZ3 also has a larger amount of RAM. The Xperia XZ3 has a better looking screen than Xperia XA1 Plus, because it has a much higher resolution of 1440 x 2880, a little bit larger display and a higher pixels count in each inch of display.

Sony Xperia XZ3 has a lot bigger storage for games and applications than Xperia XA1 Plus, because it has a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 512 GB and 64 GB internal storage. Xperia XZ3 counts with just a bit better camera than Xperia XA1 Plus, because although it has a worse resolution back camera, and they both have the same sensor size and a F2 camera aperture, the Xperia XZ3 also counts with a lot higher 3840x2160 (4K) video quality.

Xperia XA1 Plus has a bit better battery lifetime than Sony Xperia XZ3, because it has 3430mAh of battery capacity instead of 3330mAh.

Although Xperia XZ3 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Xperia XA1 Plus, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Xperia XA1 Plus. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the Xperia XZ3, else you can save a couple dollars and buy the Xperia XA1 Plus, letting go some specs and features.
