Comparison review
The Xperia XZ2 Premium has a general score of 82.2, which is just a bit better than Xperia 5's 81 overall score. Despite being the best cellphone we are comparing here, we must tell that it's also older, a lot heavier and noticeably thicker. The Xperia XZ2 Premium counts with an incredibly better screen than Sony Xperia 5, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a much better 2160 x 3840 resolution and a lot greater number of pixels per screen inch.
The Xperia 5's processing unit is very similar to Xperia XZ2 Premium's CPU, both of them have a Octa-Core CPU and a 6 GB RAM memory. Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium captures just a bit better photos and videos than Sony Xperia 5, because although it has a tinier diafragm aperture which is not so good for low light captures and videos, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video definition and the same 30 fps video frame rates, the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium also counts with a larger sensor capturing more light and vivid colors and a lot higher resolution back-facing camera.
The Xperia 5 has a lot bigger storage for applications and games than Xperia XZ2 Premium, because it has 128 GB internal storage capacity and a SD card slot that admits up to 512 GB. Xperia XZ2 Premium has just a little bit longer battery lifetime than Sony Xperia 5, because it has 3540mAh of battery capacity.
Although Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is a better device, it costs more than Xperia 5, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Xperia 5. If you want to save a few dollars, you can get the Xperia 5, and give up a few features and specifications, but you'll get the most out of your money.
