Sony Xperia XZ3 has a global score of 79.6, which is slightly better than the HTC One M9's general score of 77.7. Sony Xperia XZ3's design is a lot newer, but a little thicker and somewhat heavier than HTC One M9. Both of these phones work with Android OS (Operating System), but the Sony Xperia XZ3 has newer 9.0 Pie version while HTC One M9 has Android 5.0, so it offers lots of additional features and increased performance.
The HTC One M9 features a bit better display than Xperia XZ3, although it has a bit inferior number of pixels per inch of display, a quite smaller display and a way lower resolution of 1920 x 1080px. The HTC One M9 counts with just a bit better hardware performance than Sony Xperia XZ3, because although it has lesser RAM, and they both have the same number of cores, the HTC One M9 also counts with a 64-bits CPU and a graphics co-processor.
The Xperia XZ3 features a bit better camera than HTC One M9, because although it has a lower 3840x2160 (4K) video definition and a back camera with lesser MP, it also counts with a larger back camera sensor taking higher quality videos and photos and a bigger aperture to capture better low-light photography and videos.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 has a much greater storage to store more apps and games than HTC One M9, because it has 64 GB internal storage capacity and a SD card slot that admits up to 512 GB. Xperia XZ3 counts with improved battery life than HTC One M9, because it has a 17% bigger battery capacity.
Although Xperia XZ3 is a better device, it costs a lot more than the HTC One M9, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the HTC One M9. So if you need that extra specs, you can buy Xperia XZ3, otherwise you can save some dollars and buy the HTC One M9, giving up a couple features and specifications.
