Both devices in this comparison review have Android OS (operating system), but Moto Z4 has 10 version and Xperia Z2 has Android 4.4.4 version. The Moto Z4 body is newer and just a bit thinner than the Xperia Z2's, although it's also a little bit heavier.
Sony Xperia Z2 features a sharper screen than Moto Z4, because although it has a quite smaller screen and a little bit lower 1920 x 1080px resolution, it also counts with a little greater pixel amount per display inch. The Xperia Z2 features a bit more powerful processing unit than Moto Z4, because although it has a lower amount of RAM and an inferior number of cores (although faster), it also counts with an additional GPU.
Moto Z4 shoots way better photographs and videos than Sony Xperia Z2, and although they both have the same video frame rates and the same (4K) video definition, the Moto Z4 also has a larger sensor which offers a higher photo and video quality, a camera in the back with way more mega-pixels and a bigger camera aperture to capture better photos in low light situations.
Moto Z4 has a much greater memory capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Sony Xperia Z2, because it has a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 512 GB and more internal memory. Moto Z4 counts with just a bit longer battery duration than Sony Xperia Z2, because it has a 3600mAh battery size.
