Both devices in this review have Android OS, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer has 12 version while Xiaomi Mi 5s has Android 6.0 Marshmallow version. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer design is way newer than Xiaomi Mi 5s's, but it's way heavier and just a bit thicker.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer features a little bit better hardware performance than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because it has 4 GB more RAM and a greater number of cores (and they are faster). Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Explorer features a bit sharper display than Xiaomi Mi 5s, because although it has a bit worse count of pixels per inch in the screen, it also counts with a slightly better resolution of 1080 x 2400, a larger screen and a brighter display.
