Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has a global score of 77.5, which is a bit better than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8's 74.6 score. Although the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is incredibly older and just a bit heavier than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, it's construction is still a little bit thinner. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 features a bit better display than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, because although it has a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a slightly better 1080 x 2340px resolution and a quite higher quantity of pixels in each screen inch.

Xiaomi Mi Max 2 counts with a superior memory capacity to store more games and applications than Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, and although they both have a slot for an external memory card that admits a maximum of 128 GB, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 also has 128 GB internal storage capacity. Xiaomi Mi Max 2's CPU is very similar to Xiaomi Redmi Note 8's processor, and although the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has more RAM memory, they both have a Octa-Core processor.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 features greater battery performance than Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, because it has a 5300mAh battery capacity instead of 4000mAh. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 captures better photographs and videos than Xiaomi Mi Max 2, and although they both have the same video frame rate and the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 also has a much more mega-pixels back-facing camera, a bigger camera aperture to capture better low light photos and videos and a lot bigger back-facing camera sensor.

Although Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is a better device, it costs more money than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy Xiaomi Mi Max 2, else you can save some dollars and get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, resigning a couple features and specifications.
