Comparison review
The Sony Xperia 5 is a little bit better than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, getting an 81 score against 76.6. Although Sony Xperia 5 and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 were released with only 8 months difference, Sony Xperia 5 is somewhat lighter and just a little bit thinner. The Xperia 5 counts with a little sharper screen than Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, because although it has a quite smaller display, it also counts with a bit higher 1080 x 2520 pixels resolution and a bit greater pixel count per inch of screen.
The Sony Xperia 5 has a much greater memory capacity to install applications and games than Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, because it has 128 GB internal storage capacity and a SD memory card expansion slot that admits up to 512 GB. The Xperia 5 counts with a bit better processor than Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, and although they both have 8 processing cores, the Xperia 5 also has a higher amount of RAM memory.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 counts with a superior battery lifetime than Sony Xperia 5, because it has a 5020mAh battery capacity against 3140mAh. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 shoots much clearer photographs and videos than Xperia 5, because although it has a smaller diafragm aperture which is not recommended for low light photos and video, and they both have the same video frame rate and the same video definition, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 also counts with a much bigger camera sensor taking lot better quality videos and photos and a back camera with lot more megapixels.
Although Xperia 5 is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9. If you want to save some money, you can get the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9, and give up a couple features, but you will get the most with your savings.
