The Xperia XZ3 has a global score of 79.6, which is better than Xiaomi Redmi Y1's 72.1 general score. Xperia XZ3's construction is newer, but much heavier and noticeably thicker than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1. These phones have Android operating system, but Xperia XZ3 has 9.0 Pie version while Xiaomi Redmi Y1 has Android 7.0 Nougat.
Xperia XZ3 features a much sharper display than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has a lot greater screen pixels density, a way better resolution of 1440 x 2880px and a little bit larger screen. Xperia XZ3 counts with a better performance than Xiaomi Redmi Y1. Both have a Octa-Core processing unit and 4 GB of RAM memory.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 counts with a better camera than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has a way better 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, a larger aperture for better captures and video in low light situations and a back camera with a lot better resolution. Sony Xperia XZ3 counts with a greater memory capacity to install applications and games than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and although they both have the same internal storage, the Sony Xperia XZ3 also has a slot for an SD memory card that admits up to 512 GB.
The Xperia XZ3 has just a bit longer battery performance than Xiaomi Redmi Y1, because it has an 8 percent greater battery size.
Although Xperia XZ3 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Xiaomi Redmi Y1. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Xperia XZ3, else you can save a couple dollars and get the Xiaomi Redmi Y1, giving up some features and specifications.
