Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra Review

Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra is a little outdated phone released many years ago, counting with a Dual-Core processor speeding at 1.2 GHz, a 4.7 inches display, and two cameras, an 8 MP back facing camera and a 1.3 mega-pixels front camera. But it's time to get into much more details.

This phone feels much lighter than what one would think about a cellphone this size. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra has a wonderful design, with a thickness of just 0.25". Although the Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra is only 5.29" long and 2.7" wide, it still manages to pack a 4.7" screen. This cellphone is sold in three color options, black, yellow and red.

Alcatel decided to power this phone with a MediaTek MT6577 system chip, including a fast 1.2 GHz Dual-Core processing unit with 1 GB of RAM memory. Handling graphic calculations, it also counts with a PowerVR SGX531 graphics processing unit ticking at 200 MHz. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra comes with a good 16 GB internal memory and even though it doesn't have an SD memory card expansion slot, it is enough to install a couple hundred applications, although it may not be enough if you are planning to install some of the largest games currently available or taking tons of photos and videos.

Alcatel equipped the Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra with a gorgeous 4.7" display, and a 1280 x 720 (HD) resolution, which makes it impossible to even distinguish the pixels composing the display. Its display uses Super AMOLED capacitive technology, and has multi-touch detection.

This cellphone provides Wi-Fi connection (which it can share with other devices around, acting as a wireless router or modem) and fast 3G connectivity, using HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra works with a SIM card for GSM networks.

This cellphone features two cameras, an 8 MP back facing camera and a 1.3 megapixels front-facing camera. The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra also captures videos in 1280x720 (HD) at 30 fps. The camera also counts with a few interesting features like auto-focus, flash, face detection shooting, smile detection shooting and geo tagging.

This phone also comes with some cool features like Bluetooth (4.0) and GPS Navigation, and multiple sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra has a 1800 mAh mid capacity Li-Ion removable battery that provides the Alcatel OneTouch Idol Ultra a below average battery duration comparing with other similar phones. Alcatel says this phone has a stand by time of 400 hs and a talk time of 12 hs.

This phone costs about 249 dollars, expensive for comparing with similar cellphones. It doesn't matter whether you will use this phone for gaming or will use it as a social phone, you will probably love this device.
