Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Review

LTE     See other variants reviews Score: 65.6 / 100

Microsoft Lumia 640 XL is a great device, with a very powerful Quad-Core processor running at 1200 megahertz, a really big 5.7" multi-touch display, and 2 cameras, a 13 megapixels back camera and a 5 mega-pixels front-facing camera. But it's time to get into a bit more details.

Microsoft made a great optimization job making this device as lightweight as 6.03 ounces. Microsoft made the Lumia 640 XLavailable only in many colors like black, orange, blue and white. This cellphone is just 0.35 inches thick, making its way into the thinnest cellphones podium. This phone is a compact cellphone, given that it packs a 5.7" display and it is only 6.22 inches long.

Microsoft decided to sell this phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chip, backed up by an extremely powerful 1.2 gigahertz Quad-Core processing unit with only 1 GB RAM memory which is a little bit low for such a powerful cellphone. Graphic calculations generally uses a lot of CPU time, so this cellphone counts with an additional 450 megahertz Adreno 305 graphic processing unit to improve overall performance. This cellphone has a good 8 GB internal storage and a slot for an external memory card, enough to install a couple hundred applications and games without worrying about space.

The Lumia 640 XL is equipped with two cameras, a 13 mega-pixels back facing camera and a 5 megapixels front side camera. Its back facing camera lens has an aperture of 2 so it can capture awesome photos even in poorly lit environments. This phone also films videos in 1920x1080 (Full HD) at 30 fps. In addition, the camera has auto-focus and flash.

Microsoft packed this phone with a interesting 5.7-inches display, and a resolution of 1280 x 720 (HD), which makes everything look colorful and brightful. This display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and can detect multiple fingers at the same time.

This cellphone has WiFi capability (which can be provided to other devices around, acting as a mobile hotspot), 4G (LTE) high speed connection and also HSPA+ connection type, which is a bit slower 4G variation and the fastest 3G connection type, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This phone uses a Micro SIM card for GSM networks.

The Lumia 640 XL counts with a great 3000 mAh replaceable battery that can keep it running for many hours and even reach the end of the day without having to charge it at all. According to Microsoft, this phone has a reported 888 hours stand by time and a 30.3 hs talk time.

The Lumia 640 XL also features a couple of useful features as NFC (Near Field Communication), Bluetooth (4.0) and GPS, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

Microsoft is selling this phone for 140 dollars, which is not so cheap for comparing with other similar devices. No matter if you need a device to majorly use social networks and internet browsing, need a phone to play games, love photography or will use it for work, this cellphone is a very good choice for you.
