Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a general score of 64.8, which is much better than Amazon Fire HD 8's 54.1 general score. These tablets come with Android operating system, but Galaxy Tab 7.7 has 4.0.4 version and Amazon Fire HD 8 has Android 5.0 Lollipop. Galaxy Tab 7.7's body is way older, a bit thicker and a little heavier than Amazon Fire HD 8.

Amazon Fire HD 8 counts with a bit more powerful processor than Galaxy Tab 7.7, because although it has doesn't have a graphics processor, and they both have a 1 GB RAM, the Amazon Fire HD 8 also counts with a greater number of cores (and faster). The Galaxy Tab 7.7 features a more vivid screen than Amazon Fire HD 8, because although it has a bit smaller display, and they both have the same exact 800 x 1280 resolution, the Galaxy Tab 7.7 also counts with a just a bit higher display density.

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 shoots a little bit better videos and photos than Amazon Fire HD 8, although it has a back camera with a way lower 3 mega-pixels resolution and a much lower video definition. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a much bigger memory for games and applications than Amazon Fire HD 8, because although it has a SD memory slot that supports 96 GB smaller, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 has a really longer battery performance than Amazon Fire HD 8.

Although Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Amazon Fire HD 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Amazon Fire HD 8. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, but if you don't you can save some dollars and get the Amazon Fire HD 8, resigning some specs and features.
