Comparison review

Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a little bit better than Amazon Fire HD 8, having a 58.1 score against 54.1. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 construction is much older, noticeably heavier and somewhat thicker than the Amazon Fire HD 8. These tablets work with Android OS (operating system), but Galaxy Tab 8.9 has the previous 3.0 version and Amazon Fire HD 8 has Android 5.0 Lollipop version.

The Amazon Fire HD 8 features a faster processor than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has more CPU cores. Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 counts with a brighter screen than Amazon Fire HD 8, because although it has a just a bit worse pixels density, and they both have the same exact resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 also counts with a bit larger display.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a little bit better camera than Amazon Fire HD 8, although it has a way worse 1280x720 video resolution and a back-facing camera with much less MP. Galaxy Tab 8.9 has more storage capacity for apps and games than Amazon Fire HD 8, because although it has no external memory card slot, it also counts with 48 GB more internal storage.

Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a really longer battery life than Amazon Fire HD 8.

Although Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Amazon Fire HD 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Amazon Fire HD 8. So if you want that extra features, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, otherwise you can save some dollars and get the Amazon Fire HD 8, letting go a couple specs and features.
