Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a global score of 65.1, which is just a bit better than the iPad 3's overall score of 64.7. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 counts with Android 4.4 OS, while iPad 3 comes with iOS 7.x OS. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 construction is much newer, thinner and notably lighter than the iPad 3.
Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a slightly better looking screen than iPad 3, because although it has a little bit smaller display, it also counts with a better pixel count in each display inch and a little higher resolution of 1600 x 2560px. The Amazon Fire HDX 8.9 has a quite superior hardware performance than Apple iPad 3, because it has a larger amount of RAM memory and a greater number of cores.
Apple iPad 3 counts with a much better camera than Amazon Fire HDX 8.9, although it has a smaller aperture which is worse for capturing images or videos in low-light environments, a worse 1920x1080 (Full HD) video resolution and a back facing camera with a much worse 5 megapixels resolution.
