The iPad 3 construction is just a little thicker but a little lighter than the Asus VivoTab, and both were only released 3 months apart.
The iPad 3 has a much better looking display than Asus VivoTab, because although it has a little bit smaller display, it also counts with a much greater pixel count per inch of screen and a much higher resolution of 1536 x 2048. The Asus VivoTab has as much memory capacity to install applications and games as the iPad 3 one, both have exactly the same 64 GB internal storage. IPad 3 has a way better camera than Asus VivoTab, although it has a lower video definition and a back-facing camera with a way worse 5 mega pixels resolution.
The iPad 3 has a really longer battery lifetime than Asus VivoTab.
The iPad 3 is a bit more expensive than the Asus VivoTab, but it's still a convenient choice, as you can get a better tablet for that extra money.
