IPad Air's construction is thinner than the Galaxy Tab E 8.0, although it's way heavier and was released many years before. The iPad Air has iOS 8.x OS, while Galaxy Tab E 8.0 has Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
IPad Air has a superior processing power than Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0, because although it has 512 MB less RAM memory and 2 less cores (but faster), it also counts with a graphics processing unit and a 64 bits processor.
