IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) is a bit better than Apple iPad Air, getting a general score of 81.1 against 77.9. The iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) design is incredibly newer and noticeably thinner than the Apple iPad Air's, but it's heavier. Apple iPad Air counts with a little sharper screen than Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018), although it has a quite worse display pixels density, a way smaller display and a lot worse resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels.
IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) has a little bit better processing power than Apple iPad Air, because although it has doesn't have an extra GPU and a 32-bit processing unit against 64-bits, it also counts with a greater number of faster cores and a higher amount of RAM. IPad Air has much more storage capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018), because it has 64 GB more internal storage capacity.
IPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) has a greater camera than Apple iPad Air, because it has a lot better 3840x2160 video definition, a back camera with a way higher resolution and a way bigger aperture to take better low-light captures. Apple iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) counts with a bit superior battery life than Apple iPad Air, because it has a 9720mAh battery size.
Although iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018) is a better device, it is way more expensive than the iPad Air, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as iPad Air. So if you need that extra features, you can buy iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2018), but if you don't you can save some dollars and buy the iPad Air, letting go some specifications.
