Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has a score of 61.4, which is slightly better than Google Nexus 7's 59.3 overall score. Both of these tablets come with Android OS (operating system), but the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) has an older 4.1 version while Google Nexus 7 has Android 5.1 version. Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1)'s body is a little thinner but heavier than the Google Nexus 7, and both were released with only 4 months difference.

The Google Nexus 7 counts with a more powerful processing unit than Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), and although they both have a 1 GB RAM memory, the Google Nexus 7 also has a graphics processor and more cores. Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) counts with a much longer battery performance than Google Nexus 7, because it has a 7000mAh battery capacity against 4325mAh.

Although Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Google Nexus 7, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Google Nexus 7. So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy the Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1), otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the Google Nexus 7, letting go some features and specs.
