The Google Pixel Slate construction is newer and noticeably thinner, but just a little heavier than iPad 3.
The Google Pixel Slate features a little bit better performance than iPad 3, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Google Pixel Slate also has more RAM. The Apple iPad 3 counts with just a bit better looking screen than Google Pixel Slate, although it has a way smaller screen, a little lower pixel count in each display inch and a lot lower resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels.
Google Pixel Slate features a way bigger storage to store more apps and games than iPad 3, because it has more internal storage. The Apple iPad 3 counts with a much better battery life than Google Pixel Slate. The Google Pixel Slate takes slightly better photographs and videos than Apple iPad 3, and although they both have the same 1920x1080 video definition and the same video frame rates, the Google Pixel Slate also has a back facing camera with much more megapixels and a way larger diafragm aperture for better captures and videos in poorly lited situations.
Although Google Pixel Slate is a better device, it costs a lot more money than iPad 3, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as iPad 3. If you prefer to save some money, you can buy iPad 3, letting go a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most with your budget.
