Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is a lot better than Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2, getting a general score of 66.2 against 53.1. The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is a heavier but thinner device than Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2. Both of these tablets use Android OS, but the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 has newer 4.4.2 version and Samsung Galaxy Player 4.2 has Android 2.3.5 version.

The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 has just a bit better looking screen than Galaxy Player 4.2, because although it has a bit less pixels per inch of display, it also counts with a lot better 1280 x 800 resolution and a much larger display.
