The Galaxy Tab 8.9 is just a bit better than the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, getting a score of 58.1 against 57.6. Although it's the best tablet in this review, Galaxy Tab 8.9's construction is way older, heavier and a little thicker than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD. Both tablets we are comparing here come with Android operating system, but the Galaxy Tab 8.9 has 3.0 version and Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD has Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.
Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD counts with a better CPU than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has 6 more processing cores. The Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD has a bit more vivid display than Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, because although it has a bit smaller display, it also counts with a much better 1200 x 1920 resolution and a way higher display density.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a quite bigger memory capacity to install applications and games or saving photos and videos than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, because although it has no external memory slot, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage. Galaxy Tab 8.9 features a bit better battery life than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, because it has 6000mAh of battery capacity.
The Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD shoots a lot better photos and videos than Galaxy Tab 8.9, because it has a lot higher resolution camera and a much higher 1920x1080 video resolution.
Although Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a better device, it is a bit more expensive than the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD. If you prefer to save some money, you can buy the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, letting go a couple features and specs, but you'll get the most with your savings.
