The Asus VivoTab Smart has an overall score of 58.7, which is slightly better than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD's 57.6 overall score. Asus VivoTab Smart's construction is extremely heavier and somewhat thicker than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD. The Asus VivoTab Smart has Windows 8 operating system, and Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD works with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

The Asus VivoTab Smart features just a bit better hardware performance than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, because although it has lesser cores and a smaller amount of RAM memory, it also counts with a graphics processing unit. Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD counts with a much better battery duration than Asus VivoTab Smart.
Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD shoots better photos and videos than Asus VivoTab Smart, and although they both have the same video resolution, the same video frame rates and a 8 megapixels camera, the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD also has a bigger camera aperture to take better photos in low-light environments.
Although Asus VivoTab Smart is a better device, it costs more money than Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Asus VivoTab Smart, but if you don't you can save some money and buy the Verizon Ellipsis 8 HD, letting go some features and specs.
