ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G Review

Score: 52.4 / 100

ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G is a fair quality device, equipped with a good size 7" multi-touch capacitive display, a very powerful Quad-Core processor speeding at 1500 megahertz, and 2 cameras, a 2 megapixels back facing camera and a 0.3 MP front side camera.

Archos decided to equip this portable tablet with an extremely powerful Quad-Core processor clocking at 1500 MHz, included in the Mediatek MT8732 system chip with only 1 GB RAM memory which is a little bit disappointing for such a good portable tablet. To help with graphic calculations, the ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G also has a 416 megahertz ARM Mali-T760 MP2 GPU. A good aspect of the ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G is its quite big 8 GB internal memory and an SD memory slot, allowing you to store hundreds of applications without worrying about space.

The ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G is available just in color white. This tablet is very slim and stilized, being just 0.37 inches thick. Whereas this device just has 7.48 inches long and 4.27" wide, it manages to contain a 7" screen. This time, it seems like Archos didn't care so much about the weight in this 9.17 oz tablet device.

The ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G has two cameras, a 2 mega-pixels back facing camera and a 0.3 mega-pixels front-facing camera. This camera also has flash.

Archos designed this tablet with a nice 7 inches display, and a 1024 x 600 resolution, which makes everything look quite good. This display uses IPS LCD capacitive technology, and allows multi-touch gestures.

The ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G features Wi-Fi connection (but it can't share it with other devices acting as a wireless modem), 4G (LTE) great performance connection and also HSPA+ connection type, that is a bit slower 4G type and fast 3G data connection, supported by HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. This tablet has 2 Micro SIM cards so it can to work with 2 different phone lines in the same tablet.

This device has a high capacity 2500 mAh Li-Polymer non-removable battery, enough to provide the ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G with a marvelous battery life. An issue to take into consideration is that the ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G's battery is non-removable so you can't change it when it starts to live shorter, although with so much capacity you will probably replace this device before that happens.

This tablet also comes with a couple of cool features such as Bluetooth (provides communication with other tablet devices and accessories) and GPS Geolocation, and lots of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The ARCHOS 70 Helium 4G is not cheap at all considering it costs $ 249, and many similar tablets are being sold for much less than that.
