Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition Review

Wi-Fi 16 GB (MZ607)     See other variants reviews Score: 59.2 / 100

Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition is a good quality Android tablet released back in the year 2011, packing a good size 8.2 inches multi-touch display, a fast 1.2 GHz Dual-Core CPU, and 2 cameras, a 5 megapixels back facing camera and a 1.3 MP front camera. But it's time to get into some more details.

Motorola ships this tablet with a TI OMAP 4430 system chip, holding a fast 1200 MHz Dual-Core CPU with 1 GB RAM memory. Graphic intensive applications usually consume a lot of processing power, so this tablet has an extra PowerVR SGX540 GPU working at 200 megahertz to take care of them, leaving the processor free for other tasks. An interesting feature of this device is its big 16 GB internal memory and while it doesn't include an SD card slot, it is enough to install hundreds of applications, although it may not be suitable if you are planning to install a couple of the heaviest games available nowadays.

It seems like Motorola forgot about weight optimization in this 13.62 oz tablet device. This device is a very compact tablet, taking into consideration it has a 8.2" display and it has just 8.5" long. The Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition is just 0.35 inches thick, taking it to the thinnest tablet's category.

The Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition features two cameras, a 5 megapixels back camera and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera. It can also shoot videos up to 1280x720 (HD) at 30 frames per second. In addition, the camera features auto-focus and flash.

The Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition is equipped with a nice 8.2" screen with a 800 x 1280 resolution, giving this tablet a nice graphic quality. Its screen uses TFT capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

The Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition counts with wifi connection (although it can't be provided to other devices acting as a hotspot), 4G (HSPA+) connectivity, which is not as fast as LTE-A or LTE networks and fast 3G data connection, over HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS and EDGE technologies. The Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition uses a SIM card for GSM networks.

This tablet also includes a handful of useful characteristics like Infrared Blaster, Bluetooth (2.1, EDR) and GPS (Global Positioning System), and plenty of sensors like Light Sensor, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Barometer and Compass.

This tablet has a 3900 mAh incredible Li-Ion non-replaceable battery that can keep this device running for several hours without having to charge it at all. An issue to evaluate is that this device's battery is non-replaceable so you won't be able to replace it when it begins to live shorter, while with so much capacity you will probably discard this tablet before that becomes a real problem.

It doesn't matter whether you will use it mainly for social networks and internet browsing, are looking for a gaming device or will use it as a work tablet, this portable tablet is the correct option .
