Sony Xperia 1 III has a score of 93.3, which is much better than the Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1)'s 73.1 general score. Both of these phones use Android operating system, but the Sony Xperia 1 III has the previous 11 version while Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1) has Android 9.0 Pie. Even though Sony Xperia 1 III is a little heavier than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), it's a little thinner and notably newer.
The Xperia 1 III has a little sharper display than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), because it has a much better pixels density, a way higher 1644 x 3840 resolution and a bit bigger screen. The Xperia 1 III counts with a much greater memory for apps and games than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), because although it has a slot for an SD memory card that supports 976 GB smaller, it also counts with 192 GB more internal storage.
The Xperia 1 III counts with a bit superior processor than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), and although they both have the same number of cores, the Xperia 1 III also has 8 GB more RAM memory. The Xperia 1 III shoots better pictures and videos than Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), because although it has a lower resolution back-facing camera and a lower video definition, it also counts with a lot larger diafragm aperture to capture better photos and video in low-light environments.

If you are trying to save a few dollars, you can get Asus ZenFone Max Pro (M1), letting go a couple features and specs, but you will get the most out of your budget.
