The Sony Xperia XZ1 shoots a lot better videos and photos than HTC One (M8), and although they both have the same diafragm aperture, the Sony Xperia XZ1 also has a way bigger camera sensor which provides a much better photo and video quality, a much higher 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution and a way more mega pixels back-facing camera.
Xperia XZ1 has just a bit better battery life than HTC One (M8), because it has a 2700mAh battery capacity instead of 2600mAh.
