Google Nexus 6P is much better than the HTC One (M8), having a score of 80.3 against 71.9. Google Nexus 6P's construction is newer and much thinner, but heavier than HTC One (M8). HTC One (M8) features a bit more vivid display than Google Nexus 6P, although it has a much lower 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, a just a bit lower screen density and a little bit smaller display.
The HTC One (M8) has a bit better CPU than Google Nexus 6P, because although it has a smaller amount of RAM and an inferior number of cores , it also counts with an additional graphics processor. The Google Nexus 6P features a lot bigger memory capacity for apps and games than HTC One (M8), because although it has no external memory card slot, it also counts with more internal storage capacity.
Google Nexus 6P shoots better pictures and videos than HTC One (M8), and although they both have a same size camera aperture, the Google Nexus 6P also has a much bigger back camera sensor, a lot more MP camera in the back and a way higher 3840x2160 (4K) video quality. The Google Nexus 6P has greater battery life than HTC One (M8), because it has a 3450mAh battery capacity against 2600mAh.
Although Google Nexus 6P is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the HTC One (M8), and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as HTC One (M8). So if you need that extra specs and features, you can buy Google Nexus 6P, otherwise you can save a couple dollars and get the HTC One (M8), resigning some specifications.
