Galaxy Note 4 is way better than HTC One M9 Plus, having an 81.6 score against 66.8. These phones use the same Android 5.0 OS, so you shouldn't see any differences in that aspect. The HTC One M9 Plus features a bit sharper screen than Samsung Galaxy Note 4, because although it has a little smaller display, and they both have the same 2560 x 1440px resolution, the HTC One M9 Plus also counts with a just a bit more pixels per inch of screen.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a very superior memory to install applications and games than HTC One M9 Plus, and although they both have exactly the same 32 GB internal memory capacity, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 also has an external memory slot that holds up to 128 GB. Galaxy Note 4's processor is very similar to HTC One M9 Plus's processor, because although the Galaxy Note 4 has lesser cores and a 32 bits processor instead of 64-bits, and they both have a 3 GB RAM, it also counts with an additional graphics co-processor.
The Galaxy Note 4 has a way better battery lifetime than HTC One M9 Plus. The Galaxy Note 4 counts with a very superior camera than HTC One M9 Plus, although it has a worse 3840x2160 (4K) video definition and a back camera with a worse resolution.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 costs a bit more money than HTC One M9 Plus, but you can get a much better phone for that few more dollars.
