HTC U Ultra is a bit better than the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, getting a 77 score against 76.3. HTC U Ultra's body is extremely heavier and somewhat thicker than Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The Galaxy Alpha features a little better hardware performance than HTC U Ultra, because although it has a lower amount of RAM, and they both have the same number of cores, the Galaxy Alpha also counts with an extra GPU.
HTC U Ultra has a bit sharper screen than Galaxy Alpha, because it has a lot better 1440 x 2560 pixels resolution, way more pixels per screen inch and a larger display. HTC U Ultra features a superior memory to install games and applications than Galaxy Alpha, because it has a slot for an external memory card that allows up to 1,95 TB and 64 GB internal memory capacity.
The HTC U Ultra features a really longer battery lifetime than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, because it has a 3000mAh battery capacity against 1860mAh. HTC U Ultra shoots just a bit better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy Alpha, and although they both have the same (4K) video quality, the same 30 fps video frame rates and a same resolution camera, the HTC U Ultra also has a bigger aperture for better low-light images and videos.
Although HTC U Ultra is a better device, it costs a lot more money than the Galaxy Alpha, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as Galaxy Alpha. If you prefer to save some dollars, you can buy Galaxy Alpha, and give up a few features and specs, but you'll get the most with your money.
