Motorola Edge 40's design is a lot newer, a little lighter and just a bit thinner than HTC U12 Life. Both devices in this review include Android OS (operating system), but Motorola Edge 40 has the older 13 version while HTC U12 Life has Android 8.1 Oreo version.
The Motorola Edge 40 features a brighter display than HTC U12 Life, because it has a little bigger screen, a just a little higher count of pixels per inch of screen and a slightly higher resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The HTC U12 Life features a much powerful processing unit than Motorola Edge 40, although it has 4 GB less RAM, they both have the same number of cores.
Motorola Edge 40 takes much clearer photos and videos than HTC U12 Life, and although they both have the same video definition and the same video frame rates, the Motorola Edge 40 also has a lot larger camera aperture and a back camera with a lot higher 50 megapixels resolution. The Motorola Edge 40 has just a bit bigger memory for games and applications than HTC U12 Life, because although it has no slot for an SD memory card, it also counts with 64 GB more internal memory capacity.
Motorola Edge 40 has longer battery lifetime than HTC U12 Life, because it has a 22 percent greater battery size.
