Huawei P40 counts with a bit better hardware performance than Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design. Both of them have 6 GB of RAM and the same number of cores. Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design has a bit better looking screen than Huawei P40, because although it has a little smaller display, it also counts with a better resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a better amount of pixels per inch of display.
Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design has a much bigger memory for apps and games than Huawei P40, because it has 128 GB more internal memory capacity. Huawei P40 shoots way better videos and photos than Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design, and although they both have the same (4K) video quality, the Huawei P40 also has a bigger aperture for better low light captures and video, a much larger back-facing camera sensor taking much better quality videos and photos, a lot more megapixels camera and faster video frame rates.
