LG Optimus L9 is slightly better than HTC Hero S, with a 56.1 score against 55.8. LG Optimus L9 is a newer cellphone, and it's also thinner and a little lighter than the HTC Hero S. These phones use Android OS (Operating System), but LG Optimus L9 has newer 4.1.2 version while HTC Hero S has Android 2.3 version.
LG Optimus L9 has a bit sharper screen than HTC Hero S, because although it has a bit worse pixel quantity in each display inch, and they both have an equal resolution of 960 x 540, the LG Optimus L9 also counts with a bigger screen. The HTC Hero S has as much memory to install applications and games or saving photos and videos as the LG Optimus L9 one, they have a slot for an external memory card that admits a maximum of 32 GB and exactly the same 4 GB internal storage.
The LG Optimus L9 features a bit more powerful processor than HTC Hero S, because it has a greater amount of RAM, an extra GPU and a larger number of cores (but slower). LG Optimus L9 counts with a much longer battery duration than HTC Hero S, because it has a 41% bigger battery capacity. HTC Hero S has a much better camera than LG Optimus L9. They have the same video frame rate, a same resolution camera in the back and the same 1280x720 (HD) video definition.
Although LG Optimus L9 is a better device, it costs a little more than HTC Hero S, and it doesn't have such a good relation between it's price and quality as the HTC Hero S. If you want to save a few dollars, you can get the HTC Hero S, giving up a couple features and specs, but you will get the most with your savings.
