HTC Hero S Review

Score: 55.8 / 100

HTC Hero S is a pretty good phone released many years ago, provisioned with a 4" display, a good performance processing unit clocking at 1.2 GHz, and two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back-facing camera and a 1.3 megapixels front facing camera. But let's get into much more details.

The HTC Hero S ships with a powerful 1.2 GHz processing unit, included in the Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 MSM8655 chip with 768 MB RAM memory. The HTC Hero S comes with a 4 GB internal storage memory, a moderate quantity that should be fine for most users considering it also has a slot for external memory cards .

It seems like HTC forgot about weight optimization in this 4.59 ounces phone. Even though this phone is quite thin it's not close to being one of the thinnest phones you can find, with a thickness of 0.46 inches. This cellphone only has 4.53" long, but it is able to fit a a 4 inches display.

HTC equipped this phone with a interesting 4" display, and a resolution of 960 x 540 , which makes all pictures and movies look very good. This display uses S-LCD capacitive technology, and is multi-touch enabled.

This cellphone is equipped with two cameras, a 5 mega-pixels back side camera and a 1.3 megapixels front facing camera. It is capable of shooting videos in HD 1280x720 at 30 fps. This camera also includes a few useful characteristics: auto-focus, flash and geo tagging.

This phone features a medium capacity 1520 mAh Li-Ion removable battery, which is not really enough for a device like this. HTC reports a 456 hours stand by time and a 7.3 hs talk time for this device.

This cellphone counts with wifi connectivity (and it can be provided to other devices acting as a wireless router or modem) and 3G fast internet connection, over HSDPA, HSUPA, UMTS, EV-DO A and EDGE technologies. This cellphone uses a SIM card for GSM connection and it can work with both CDMA and GSM.

This cellphone also comes with a handful of nice features such as Bluetooth (3.0) and GPS, and plenty of sensors like Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Accelerometer and Compass.

The HTC Hero S might not be a good choice considering it costs $ 80, and other similar phones are offerred cheaper than that. This phone is a great option for you if you are looking for a device to mostly use social networks and internet browsing.
