The LG Velvet is a little bit better than the Samsung Galaxy A50, with an 87.1 score against 83.8. LG Velvet's design is newer, but a bit thicker and just a bit heavier than Samsung Galaxy A50. The Galaxy A50 and LG Velvet both have incredibly similar displays, because although the Galaxy A50 has a little bit smaller screen and a little lower 1080 x 2340 resolution, it also counts with a just a little better pixels density.

LG Velvet has a bit superior processor than Samsung Galaxy A50, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the LG Velvet also has a larger amount of RAM. LG Velvet features a much better camera than Galaxy A50, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not so good for low light captures and video, it also counts with a back-facing camera with lot more MP, a lot better (4K) video quality and a lot larger back-facing camera sensor shooting much higher quality videos and pictures.

The LG Velvet has a much bigger storage capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy A50, and although they both have the same internal storage capacity, the LG Velvet also has a SD memory card expansion slot that holds a maximum of 1,95 TB. So if you need that extra features and specs, you can buy the LG Velvet, but if you don't you can save some money and buy the Samsung Galaxy A50, letting go a couple features and specs.
