Galaxy A8 Star is much better than Moto Z Play, getting an 82.1 score against 74.4. The Galaxy A8 Star body is newer, but somewhat heavier and a little thicker than the Moto Z Play. These phones have Android OS (operating system), but Galaxy A8 Star has newer 9.0 Pie version and Moto Z Play has Android 8.0 Oreo.

Galaxy A8 Star has a little bit better hardware performance than Moto Z Play, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Galaxy A8 Star also has a larger amount of RAM. Samsung Galaxy A8 Star features a screen that is just as good as the display in Moto Z Play, because although the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star has a little bit inferior number of pixels per inch of display, it also counts with a quite better 1080 x 2220 resolution and a little bigger screen.

The Galaxy A8 Star captures a little bit better pictures and videos than Motorola Moto Z Play, and although they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution, a 16 MP resolution back facing camera and the same 30 fps video frame rate, the Galaxy A8 Star also has a bigger aperture for better photography in poorly lited environments.

The Moto Z Play counts with a bigger memory capacity for games and applications than Samsung Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has less internal storage capacity, it also counts with a SD card slot that supports up to 1,95 TB. Galaxy A8 Star counts with a bit better battery duration than Motorola Moto Z Play, because it has a 5% more battery capacity.
