Comparison review
Samsung Galaxy A42 has a general score of 87, which is a little bit better than Xiaomi Mi A3's 79.2 general score. Both phones in this comparison review work with the same Android 11 OS (operating system), so you shouldn't see any difference in that aspect. The Samsung Galaxy A42 construction is newer, but just a little bit heavier and just a little thicker than the Xiaomi Mi A3.
