Galaxy A8 Star has an overall score of 82.1, which is just a bit better than the Xperia XZ1's 78.3 general score. The Galaxy A8 Star design is newer, but somewhat heavier and just a bit thicker than Xperia XZ1. Sony Xperia XZ1 features a bit superior CPU than Galaxy A8 Star, although it has 2 GB less RAM memory, they both have the same number of cores.
Sony Xperia XZ1 has a little sharper display than Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has a little bit smaller display and a little bit worse resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, it also counts with a just a little better display pixels density. The Sony Xperia XZ1 captures clearer photographs and videos than Galaxy A8 Star, because although it has a tinier diafragm aperture which is not so good for capturing photos in low-light situations, and they both have the same video quality and the same 30 frames per second video frame rates, the Sony Xperia XZ1 also counts with a bigger sensor shooting higher quality photographs and videos and a better 19 mega pixels resolution back-facing camera.
Xperia XZ1 counts with a superior memory capacity for games and applications than Galaxy A8 Star, and although they both have equal 64 GB internal memory capacity, the Xperia XZ1 also has a slot for an SD memory card that supports a maximum of 1,95 TB. Galaxy A8 Star has a much better battery life than Sony Xperia XZ1, because it has a 3700mAh battery size.
