Samsung Galaxy Note8 has a general score of 83, which is better than Galaxy J7 Star's 73.1 score. Both of these devices come with the same Android 9.0 Pie OS (Operating System), so both should provide the same OS features. Samsung Galaxy Note8 is a just a little bit heavier phone than Galaxy J7 Star, but both are equally thin.

Galaxy Note8 counts with just a bit better processing power than Samsung Galaxy J7 Star, and although they both have a Octa-Core CPU, the Galaxy Note8 also has a higher amount of RAM. Galaxy Note8 has a much more vibrant screen than Galaxy J7 Star, because it has a bit bigger display, way more pixels per display inch and a lot higher 1440 x 2960 resolution.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 features a quite bigger storage capacity for applications, games, photos and videos than Samsung Galaxy J7 Star, because although it has an external SD slot that allows a maximum of 256 GB against 400 GB, it also counts with 64 GB internal storage capacity. The Samsung Galaxy Note8 features a battery life that is very similar to the battery duration in Galaxy J7 Star.

Samsung Galaxy Note8 has a slightly better camera than Galaxy J7 Star, because although it has a camera with a worse resolution, and they both have a F1.7 aperture, the Samsung Galaxy Note8 also counts with a way better (4K) video resolution and a larger back-facing camera sensor taking more light and vivid colors.

Although Galaxy Note8 is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than Galaxy J7 Star, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy J7 Star. If you want to save some money, you can get Galaxy J7 Star, and give up a few features and specs, but you will get the most with your money.
