Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has an overall score of 81.9, which is much better than the Galaxy J7 Star's global score of 73.1. Although it's the best we compare here, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is an older, thicker and heavier phone than the Galaxy J7 Star. Samsung Galaxy S8 Active counts with a way better looking display than Galaxy J7 Star, because it has a lot better resolution of 1440 x 2960px, a little bigger display and a much higher pixels number per inch in the display.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has a bit better performance than Galaxy J7 Star, and although they both have 8 CPU cores, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active also has a higher amount of RAM. Galaxy S8 Active counts with a quite bigger storage capacity to store more apps and games than Galaxy J7 Star, because although it has a slot for an SD memory card that admits 144 GB smaller, it also counts with more internal storage.
Samsung Galaxy S8 Active shoots a little bit better pictures and videos than Samsung Galaxy J7 Star, because although it has a camera with less mega pixels resolution, and they both have a same size aperture, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active also counts with a much better 3840x2160 (4K) video resolution and a bigger camera sensor.

Although Galaxy S8 Active is a better device, it is a lot more expensive than the Galaxy J7 Star, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy J7 Star. So if you want that extra features, you can buy the Galaxy S8 Active, else you can save some dollars and buy the Galaxy J7 Star, letting go some features and specifications.
