Comparison review
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a global score of 78.7, which is just a bit better than the Galaxy S5 Plus's 78.1 score. Both of these devices come with Android OS (operating system), but the Huawei Mate 9 Pro has the newer 8.0 Oreo version and Galaxy S5 Plus has Android 4.4.2 version. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro construction is notably newer and a little bit thinner than the Galaxy S5 Plus's, although it is also heavier.
Galaxy S5 Plus and Huawei Mate 9 Pro feature really similar processing units, because although the Huawei Mate 9 Pro has doesn't have an extra graphics co-processor, it also counts with more cpu cores (but slower) and a greater amount of RAM. Galaxy S5 Plus has a little bit better looking display than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, although it has a way lower 1920 x 1080 resolution, a bit lower quantity of pixels per inch of screen and a bit smaller display.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro features a superior memory capacity for applications and games than Galaxy S5 Plus, because although it has no slot for an SD memory card, it also counts with more internal storage capacity. Huawei Mate 9 Pro has a way better battery duration than Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus, because it has 4000mAh of battery capacity instead of 2800mAh.
Galaxy S5 Plus has a bit better camera than Huawei Mate 9 Pro, and although they both have the same video frame rate, the same 3840x2160 (4K) video quality and a same size camera aperture, the Galaxy S5 Plus also has a much higher resolution back facing camera and a bigger back-facing camera sensor shooting better quality photos.
Although Huawei Mate 9 Pro is a better device, it costs a lot more money than Galaxy S5 Plus, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the Galaxy S5 Plus. So if you want that extra features and specs, you can buy the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, but if you don't you can save some dollars and buy the Galaxy S5 Plus, resigning a couple features and specifications.
