Sony Xperia 1 III is slightly better than Galaxy A71, getting a 93.3 score against 87.5. The Sony Xperia 1 III is a newer cellphone than the Galaxy A71, but it is a bit thicker and a bit heavier. These phones include the same Android 11 operating system, so both of them should provide very similar OS features.
The Xperia 1 III counts with a much better display than Galaxy A71, because although it has a quite smaller screen, it also counts with a much better pixel density and a lot higher resolution of 1644 x 3840. The Sony Xperia 1 III counts with a much better memory capacity to install games and applications than Samsung Galaxy A71, because it has a slot for external memory cards that allows up to 1 TB and 256 GB internal storage.
Sony Xperia 1 III counts with a bit faster CPU than Galaxy A71, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Sony Xperia 1 III also has 6 GB more RAM. Samsung Galaxy A71 counts with a better camera than Xperia 1 III, because although it has worse video frame rate and a tinier aperture which is not recommended for taking photographs and videos in poorly lited situations, and they both have the same 3840x2160 video resolution and a same size sensor, the Samsung Galaxy A71 also counts with a much more mega-pixels camera.

Although Xperia 1 III is a better device, it is way more expensive than the Galaxy A71, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Galaxy A71. So if you need that extra features, you can buy the Xperia 1 III, but if you don't you can save some money and buy the Galaxy A71, letting go a couple specifications.
