Comparison review

Xperia 5 is a little bit better than OnePlus 8, getting an 81 score against 76. Although Xperia 5 and OnePlus 8 were released only a couple months apart, the Xperia 5 body is a bit thicker but just a little lighter. The OnePlus 8 has just a bit better looking display than Xperia 5, because although it has a quite lower resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a little lower display density, it also counts with a little bit bigger screen.

The OnePlus 8 features a CPU that is very similar to Xperia 5's CPU, and although the OnePlus 8 has a larger amount of RAM memory, they both have 8 cpu cores. The OnePlus 8 shoots greater pictures and videos than Sony Xperia 5, because although it has a tinier aperture which is not so good for low light photography and video, and they both have the same 3840x2160 (4K) video definition, the OnePlus 8 also counts with a lot larger camera sensor providing a way better image quality, a back camera with way more megapixels and higher video frame rates.

Xperia 5 has a very superior storage capacity for games and applications than OnePlus 8, and although they both have exactly the same 128 GB internal memory, the Xperia 5 also has an external memory card slot that admits up to 512 GB. OnePlus 8 features a much longer battery life than Sony Xperia 5, because it has 4300mAh of battery capacity instead of 3140mAh.

Although Sony Xperia 5 is a better device, it costs a lot more than OnePlus 8, and it doesn't have such a good quality/price relation as the OnePlus 8. If you want to save a few dollars, you can buy the OnePlus 8, and give up a few features and specs, but you will get the most with your budget.
