Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium has a score of 82.2, which is much better than the Sony Xperia XA1's global score of 71.7. Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium's body is newer than Sony Xperia XA1's, although it is notably thicker and noticeably heavier. The Xperia XZ2 Premium has a lot better display than Xperia XA1, because it has a lot higher 2160 x 3840 pixels resolution, a bigger display and a lot more pixels per inch of display.
Xperia XZ2 Premium counts with a much bigger memory for applications and games than Xperia XA1, because it has a SD memory card expansion slot that admits a maximum of 400 GB and more internal storage capacity. The Xperia XZ2 Premium has a bit better hardware performance than Sony Xperia XA1, and although they both have the same number of cores, the Xperia XZ2 Premium also has a greater amount of RAM memory.

Although Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium is a better device, it is way more expensive than Xperia XA1, and it doesn't have such a good price and quality relation as the Xperia XA1. So if you need that extra features, you can buy Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium, else you can save a couple dollars and buy the Xperia XA1, giving up some specs and features.
